In a move set to reshape alliances ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle, the Linda Mwananchi Movement officially transitioned into a fully registered political party on Friday, unveiling Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as its party leader.

Speaking at the official launch in Nairobi, the movement’s leadership announced the completion of its structural overhaul into the Linda Mwananchi Movement Party (LMM).

“Today marks the end of the transformation of our movement into a political party. As we are here today, we are no longer a movement. We have become a political party: The Linda Mwananchi Movement Party,” declared Caroli Omondi during the announcement.

“That party now has a leader. And that leader is Edwin Watenya Sifuna. That party now has a home.”

The newly formed outfit wasted no time positioning itself as a key power broker, directly extending an olive branch to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for potential political coalition building.

“Your Excellency Rigathi Gachagua, Your Excellency Kalonzo Musyoka, we are now ready to do business,” Omondi stated. “We have a name, we have an identity, we have a leader, we have a home.”

The bold overture underscores LMM’s strategy to entrench itself within the national political landscape and forge tactical partnerships ahead of national contests.

Ideological Blueprint and Economic Reforms

Grounding its platform on "social market democracy," the party outlined three central pillars: democratic governance, social justice, and free enterprise. Omondi confirmed that the party will soon release a detailed blueprint and manifesto translating these ideals into actionable policy.

“We want a country that works for the many and not the few. We want a country that is inclusive—a country that affords equal opportunity to everybody,” Omondi said, emphasizing that LMM’s approach to governance will prioritize accountability and national values.

On economic policy, the party pledged to championed free enterprise while dismantling entry barriers for ordinary citizens seeking to participate in high-yield investments. LMM specifically targeted the democratization of government securities and public enterprise ownership.

Citing the widespread adoption of mobile money across Kenya, Omondi argued that the average citizen remains structurally excluded from wealth-generation tools like Treasury Bills and transactions on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), which have long been dominated by institutional and high-net-worth investors.

“We will democratise access to wealth. We will enable the small person from your phone to buy Treasury Bills, to invest in government securities, so that you can make money,” Omondi affirmed, pledging that an LMM platform would open public enterprise ownership to the broader electorate rather than a select elite.
