Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has made explosive claims regarding the 2013 presidential contest, alleging the outcome was manipulated to secure victory for former President Uhuru Kenyatta at the expense of the late opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a live interview on Inooro FM, Kuria asserted that Kenyatta only cleared the mandatory 50-percent-plus-one constitutional threshold by a narrow margin of about 6,000 votes, alleging that the tallies were artificially inflated.
"Uhuru knows very well that rejected votes were being counted in 2013 and we went to court... to stop that, for him to be declared winner, otherwise he had lost the election," Kuria said.
He went on to claim a personal role in covert operations during the 2013 and 2017 polls, alleging he received KSh 500 million from Kenyatta for his involvement.
"Uhuru had all state machinery... Uhuru knows very well what we did in 2013 and 2017," Kuria claimed.
The former lawmaker further implicated high-ranking figures, alleging that central officials, including Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, were involved in altering figures within the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) systems.
In his direct challenge to the former president, Kuria argued that Kenyatta's past reliance on state machinery and system intervention invalidates his recent criticism regarding the integrity of subsequent elections.
"He knows what we did," Kuria insisted, taking aim at Kenyatta's moral authority to question the outcome of the 2022 poll.
The serious allegations made by the former MP have not been independently established, and key figures named in the broadcast have not yet issued formal responses.
