Finlays Community Trust (FCT) has announced a KSh 9 million investment for a high-impact project in Chepchabas Ward, Bomet County.

The pledge was unveiled during a high-level engagement between the Trust and community members, led by Sammy Kirui, Head of the Trust’s Secretariat and General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Browns Plantations Kenya, alongside Ambassador Joshua Terer, a Trustee representing Bomet and Kericho counties.

As part of the initiative, the Chepchabas community has been granted a one-week window to submit a proposal for a priority development project.

Eligible sectors include technical and vocational education and training (TVET), health, secondary education, or the expansion of primary education.
The selected project must be completed within a year to unlock future corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding from the Trust.

“At Finlays Community Trust, we believe that lasting change begins with community ownership,” said Kirui. “This pledge is more than financial support—it is an invitation for the community to take charge of its future and deliver meaningful impact.”

Amb. Terer echoed the sentiment, applauding the Trust’s ongoing efforts to empower local communities.

“Today we move beyond promises to real partnerships. Chepchabas now has the chance to shape a transformative future,” he said.

Chepchabas Ward MCA, Hon. Kiprotich Wesley, expressed gratitude for the Trust’s consistent backing.

“From laboratories to hospitals, Finlays Community Trust continues to invest in our people. This latest initiative is another step toward a brighter future,” he stated.

This latest commitment adds to a series of transformative projects funded by the Trust in Chepchabas Ward, including a twin science lab at Chepchabas Secondary School, the founding of Chemasingi and Marinyin secondary schools, and major infrastructure enhancements at Chepchabas Sub-County Hospital.

The Trust also provides scholarships at secondary, TVET, and university levels.
To date, FCT has implemented over 79 development projects across Bomet and Kericho counties, benefiting more than 17,000 students annually.

More than 1,079 students have received scholarships, while over 12,000 have participated in its mentorship programmes.
