Bomet County is in mourning following the sudden demise of Chief Officer for Finance and ICT, CPA Erick Chepkwony.

Chepkwony passed away on Wednesday evening in Nairobi. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed by his family.

Confirming the news on Thursday morning, Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok described Chepkwony’s death as a major loss to both his administration and the nation.

“My heart goes out to his family, the people of Bomet, and the KTDA fraternity, where he served as National Vice Chair. This devastating loss feels even more profound as we remember how full of life he was just yesterday,” said Governor Barchok.

He added,“May the Lord grant his loved ones, colleagues, and all who knew him the strength and fortitude to endure this painful moment. We stand with his family during this unimaginably difficult time and pledge our steadfast support.”

The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), where CPA Chepkwony served as Vice Chairman, also expressed deep sorrow over his passing.

KTDA Chairman Chege Kirundi said Chepkwony was expected at the KTDA headquarters to chair a Finance Committee meeting, underscoring the suddenness of his death.

“We are yet to come to terms with this loss. CPA Chepkwony was a sociable, reliable leader whose contribution to the Agency was invaluable,” said Kirundi. “His death is a huge blow to KTDA, and we will stand with his family during this time.”

CPA Chepkwony had served as a Chief Officer in Bomet County for the past four years. He began his public service career as an administrator and steadily rose through the ranks to head the influential Finance docket.
